Mother Tree/Phoenix Dactylifera
About
Phoenix Dactylifera, Mother Tree, an exploration of resilience, sustenance and the profound interconnectedness between nature and humanity. I use the Date Palm as a central symbol to represent the life-giving force of the natural world, and the cultural heritage rooted in Mesopotamia and Coachella Valley Organic Date Farm. The Medjool date more than just a tree the date palm embodies perseverance in harsh environments, offering nourishment and shelter for centuries. Through Banners hand printed on Date Sacs, Poetry & Cuniform Symbols, Paintings deriving my colors from the earth/soil beneath the trees, Photography, Mandalas built in situ, Sculptures and Forms, I capture the essence of this iconic tree, it’s unwavering strength, its fruitful abundance and it’s enduring legacy. Endeavoring to share this powerful story spanning 6,000+ years, evoking the nurturing spirit of the feminine, while simultaneously paying homage to the historical significance of Mesopotamia as the cradle of civilization and the enduring role of women within it’s narrative. The Mother Tree is an invitation to connect with the past, a celebration of nature’s enduring power and a call for mindful stewardship of our planet.
